Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
Cornwall has always been home. Its wild coastlines, hidden coves, and windswept towans appear again and again in my stories. I have a deep love of the sea — from bodyboarding and exploring new beaches to wandering through the small towns and villages that surround them. When I’m not writing or teaching, you’ll usually find me tucked up with a cream tea and a good book, enjoying the slower pace and quiet charm that inspire so much of my work.
I spent more than twenty-five years as a teacher and school leader and have completed a Master’s in Educational Psychology. Today, I combine my two passions — education and storytelling — as both an author and the owner of a tuition business supporting students across Cornwall and Devon. Writing allows me to capture the landscapes and voices of my home while also shining a light on the children and young people who deserve to be seen and heard.
All of my novels and children’s books are rooted in Cornwall — its beauty, its sense of community, and its rugged coastline.
Between the Towans is my most successful title to date: a contemporary, slow-burn romance set on Cornwall’s beaches that explores themes of second chances, healing, and unexpected love. The novel reached No. 3 in Amazon’s Love Triangle Fiction category and has been praised for its vivid sense of place and heartfelt characters.
Book two in the Towans series, Beneath the Towans’ Sky, was released in October 2025 and continues the story with a deeper exploration of love, trust, and the enduring pull of home, set once again against Cornwall’s dramatic coastal landscape.
Alongside my adult fiction, I write the Stuff children’s series, which focuses on neurodivergent characters and their everyday experiences. Filled with humour, honesty, and compassion, these stories aim to help young readers feel seen and understood. Stuff I Can’t Say Out Loud reached No. 53 in Amazon’s Children with Disabilities category, while Stuff That Won’t Stay Still continues to champion ADHD awareness. The next book in the series, Stuff That Has to Be Just Right, centres on autism, sensory overwhelm, and the quiet power of being understood.
